Yang Sun-hyung shows Ha Na-kyung a film in which he appears as an actor, explaining the work as they watch. He tells her that he wrote the novel on which the film is based, while also playing one of its characters. As time passes, however, something begins to feel strange. The boundary between the space within the film and the space in which the two are watching it gradually becomes blurred. The film’s seemingly continuous, real-time progression also begins to raise questions about whether its time is truly linear.
Director's Note
The film asks what kind of meaning emerges when an image and the words used to describe it do not correspond. When words attached to one image encounter another, meaning may seem impossible to establish. Yet the connection can still appear strangely plausible, because an image is never entirely subordinate to what is said about it. This idea is reflected in the film’s narrative structure, which develops through repetition and rhythm. Through shifts in time and space, the film explores the ambiguity of images and attempts to move beyond conventional narrative structures.
