If I Become Sand
2022 | 8 min | B/W | Silent | 16mm | 4:3
A man walks through the desert, leaving traces behind. As he grows tired, he touches the sand and rolls across it. He recognizes the moment when he himself turns into sand.
Director's Note
Footprints in the desert disappear over time as the wind smooths them away. Humans leave traces, while natural forces such as the wind erase them. I reflect on the nature of film through this shifting desert landscape. Just as light and time leave traces on film, the rayograph process creates images through direct contact and exposure. For me, this process is both a method of filmmaking and a way of thinking about film itself.
